My Butcher Connect app for iPhone and iPad

This app is an integrated front-end traceability application equipped with QR code and Near Field Communication (NFC) reading capabilities that allows consumers to interact with smart meat labels, verify their authenticity and traceability of meat products purchased from retail butchers stores. This application is designed for research purposes, and is the first part towards developing an integrated mobile traceability system for retail butchers in Tasmania, Australia.The purpose of this mobile application is to allow consumers interact with the smart labels affixed to their meat packages and retrieve information related to the traceability of their meat products.

Simple user guide as follows:
The app consist of two segments: The left hand side is the Near Field Communication reader and the Right hand side the QR code reader.

To interact with your food label using the NFC reader, simply tap the left had side and place the phone on the label.This will automatically activate the NFC reading capability of your mobile phone.Then place the tip of your mobile phone on top of the smart meat label to read the tag. Once activated, your mobile phone will retrieve information related to the traceability of the meat product embedded as a URL link on the label.

To use the QR code reader, simply open the application and tab on scan QR code here. This will ask for you to grant access to activate the camera on your mobile phone device. Once granted, the mobile phone shows a a QR code image frame for which you will properly align the frames to the image of the QR code for recognition. Once the camera captures the QR code , the app automatically opens a browser URL of the label and displays all relevant information related to traceability of the meat product.
